Crowdfunding

Together, let’s make a difference for under-resourced diabetes communities!

DCB aims to support diabetes projects that go beyond our foundation’s scope of diabetes technology. This includes projects with a social focus that have a significant impact on people’s lives, as well as initiatives for training and education in diabetes. Our goal is to help improve diabetes care and enhance diabetes literacy globally.

Why Crowdfunding?

DCB aims to support diabetes projects that go beyond our foundation’s scope of diabetes technology. This includes projects with a social focus that have a significant impact on people’s lives, as well as initiatives for training and education in diabetes. Our goal here is to help improve diabetes care and enhance diabetes literacy globally. Additionally, we aspire to broaden our community by engaging not only with specialized experts but also the broader society.

Meet Bridget from the Sweet Life Diabetes Community in South Africa

Sweet Life is South Africa’s largest online diabetes community. They’re a non-profit and a public benefit organisation, and the primary focus is on diabetes education that people can understand, and relate to. Diabetes is the number one killer of women in South Africa, the number two killer of men. There is no national diabetes education programme, which means people don’t understand their condition – they are dying unnecessarily. Sweet Life is South Africa’s leading voice in diabetes, and they have the solution: a WhatsApp diabetes education chatbot.

Last year, Sweet Life and DCB came together when co-founder Bridget participated in the DCB Open Innovation Challenge – and we’ve maintained a valuable exchange ever since. Now it’s time to join forces to reach out to the whole community and get it into the hands of the people who need it most. Help us give South Africans with diabetes the tools they need to survive – listen to Bridget and her vision!

How can I support the project?

DCB collaborates with «we make it», a renowned crowdfunding platform that has helped over 6000 projects with their funding. All financial transactions are processed directly via the platform and will then be transferred to the project’s bank account. Please note that DCB is not taking a fee from the donated amount.

All you have to do is click on any of the button on this page, and enter the amount you want to donate and your email address. You can also donate anonymously if you wish to.

Empower South Africans with Diabetes

With our crowdfunding initiative, we are currently supporting Sweet Life in South Africa.

Sweet Life has been offering diabetes education and support to South Africans since 2011, and they have been building the foundational diabetes content for this chatbot for the past 3 years. Now it’s time to get it into the hands of the people who need it most.

Sweet Life and Diabetes Center Berne connected in 2023 when this project made it to the finals of the DCB Innovation Challenge.
