Special molecules with aggregation-induced emission, known as AIEgens, are utilized, which emit particularly bright luminescence upon aggregation. These AIEgens are designed to emit light in different spectral regions, enabling the simultaneous measurement of various metabolites such as glucose, lactate, and ketones. Integrated into a biocompatible matrix and applied to the tip of an optical sensor, which is incorporated into a wearable device, this minimally invasive system allows for continuous monitoring of metabolism in the interstitial fluid under the skin.
