However, unlike the ever-changing German weather, our activities and services all boil down to one goal: To bridge the gap between research, industry and those living with diabetes. Our objective for these dinners reflects our vision and mission: To make life better for people with diabetes, by bridging the gap between industry, research, start-ups and people living with diabetes. We all know that sometimes, the best deals are made over good food and drinks! <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span>This year, we were honored to host it at Hensslers K\u00fcche<\/em> in the heart of Hamburg \u2013 with live cooking and lots of delicious sushi, many important conversations were had which may or may not have led to new ideas and business deals.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/www.dcberne.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_2364-scaled.jpeg” _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” title_text=”IMG_2364″ hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n At DCB, we are happy to have <\/span>established<\/span> an international and ever-growing <\/span><\/span>community<\/span><\/span><\/a> of people living with diabetes all over the world. Two of our patient leaders \u2013 <\/span>Laura Burlando from Switzerland and <\/span>Lea Raak from Germany \u2013 also attended EASD and stopped by our innovation booth. <\/span>In the end, we can only fuel knowledge and truly make an impact if we give all parties a seat at the table. Or in this case: at the innovation booth.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n Among the many important topics discussed at EASD \u2013 from <\/span>islet cell transplan<\/span>t<\/span>s <\/span>to <\/span>new insulin pump technologies<\/span> and<\/span> the impact of<\/span> mental health<\/span> \u2013 we <\/span>were excited to <\/span>be involved in<\/span> one <\/span>topic <\/span>specifically<\/span>: the importance of<\/span> including perspectives of<\/span> lived experience in research and product development. <\/span>Dr. Katarina Braune<\/span>, member of our DCB Open Innovation Challenge jury and long-time DCB affiliate,<\/span> presented results of the DIWHY study conducted within the OPEN project<\/a><\/span> <\/span>of<\/span> which <\/span>we were a consortium member<\/span> \u2013 providing insights into the motivations of people living with diabetes to start on Automated Insulin Delivery systems and their feedback on such.<\/span> <\/span>Even though research and product development are moving <\/span>more and more<\/span> towards participatory processes, the outcome often still disappoints those living with diabetes and using the technologies<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/www.dcberne.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_2450-scaled.jpeg” _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” title_text=”IMG_2450″ hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n We were delighted to see lived experience and the topics of unmet needs, stigmatisation and the different perspectives of all moving parts of the healthcare system represented in many sessions \u2013 among others those of #dedoc\u00b0, International Diabetes Federation Europe and diaTribe. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n We at DCB thank all researchers, industry professionals, entrep<\/span>r<\/span>eneurs and people living with diabetes who continue to speak on these intersectional topics vital for technology innovation.
